Comedic Farce Boeing-Boeing Opens May 4
![]() Comedic farce Boeing-Boeing opens at the Longacre Theatre on May 4th. The show began previews on April 19th. First debuting on Broadway in 1962, written by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross, Boeing-Boeing is centered around a Paris-based architect, Bernard, who must ensure that three stewardesses, all who believe themselves the bachelor's sole live-in fiancee, never meet. He is assisted in this scheme by his housekeeper, but when he grows too comfortable with the farce, things begin to unravel. The Broadway revival boasts Christine Baranski, Gina Gershon, Kathryn Hahn, Mary McCormack, Mark Rylance, and Bradley Whitford in the star roles. The comedy originally opened in London in 1962 and holds the record for the longest running comedy in the West End, clocking in at over 2000 performances. The current U.K. revival, from which the Broadway revival is based upon, began in February of 2007 at The Comedy Theatre. Boeing-Boeing attempted a Broadway transfer once before, back in 1965, but only ran for 23 performances. Since then it has enjoyed a long successful run throughout the U.S. as a dinner theater piece.
