Harry Connick Jr.

Playbill reports that Harry Connick Jr. is scheduled to perform in a revival (and rewrite) of Gershwin's 1926 musical farce Oh, Kay!.

The show is billed as a musical farce involving "bootleggers, a senator, mistaken identity, disguises, a chorus girl, and more." It will directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall and based on a rewrite of the musical by Joe DiPietro. Oh, Kay! is scheduled to premiere in a try out run in Boston in fall 2008 in preparation for a Broadway debut in 2009.

Marshall has worked with Connick before in the 2006 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of The Pajama Game; Connick also played the lead there.

George Gershwin penned the music, brother Ira wrote the lyrics for Oh, Kay!. The new book by DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and All Shook Up) is inspired by material by the original writers P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton.

Casting, dates and venues have not been officially announced.
